VETMEDIN (pimobendan) is used as part of the management of the signs of congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs due to clinical myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). VETMEDIN may sometimes be used in combination with other medications (such as Furosemide/ Frusemide) to help manage clinical signs of congestive heart failure.

Pimobendan helps in management of heart disease by two main mechanisms of action- as a positive inotrope and vasodilator.

It is typically given without food

Side effects may include reduced appetite, lethargy, diarrhoea, dyspnoea, azotaemia, weakness, and ataxia.
