  • Fleas can cause various health issues in dogs, including flea allergy dermatitis, skin infections, anemia (due to blood loss), and transmission of other parasites like tapeworms. Preventing fleas helps maintain the overall health and well-being of your furry friend.
  • Prevention of Flea-Borne Diseases: Fleas can carry and transmit diseases to both animals and humans. By preventing flea infestations, you reduce the risk of these diseases affecting your dog and your household.
  • Prevention of Home Infestation: Fleas are prolific breeders and can quickly infest your home if not controlled. Once they establish themselves in carpets, bedding, and furniture, they become much harder to eradicate. By preventing fleas on your dog, you also prevent them from infesting your living space.
  • Reduction in Vet Bills: Treating flea-related health issues can be costly. By investing in preventative measures, such as flea preventatives recommended by your vet, you can potentially save money on future vet bills associated with flea-related illnesses.
  • Reduce Allergic Reactions: Some dogs are allergic to flea saliva, leading to intense itching and discomfort.

  • IMPORTANT: There are many flea treatments available . When selecting a flea treatment for your pet be sure to:
  • read and follow the manufacturer's label carefully. For example some products need to be placed topically ( on skin) while others are given orally. It can be very harmful to give a topical medication orally.
  • Use only dog specific flea medications on dogs
  • Flea medications are designed for specific weight ranges. Be sure to know the current weight of your pet so you can get the right size product for your pet.
  • Before purchase, it is a good idea to seek veterinary advice to determine which flea preventative is right for your pet
  • If you are worried that your pet may be experiencing reactions to a flea medication, seek immediate veterinary advice and care at your local veterinarian
